Why we won’t be spending on credit cards this Christmas - report

SAVVY consumers are making sure they have the funds to pay for Christmas without resorting to putting the bill on the credit card.

New research shows that one in four people have been saving all year to fund the festive spending.

Six out of 10 will use their salary or their current account in their bank to cover the Yuletide expenses, according a survey commissioned by KBC Bank.

Just one in 14 people will use their credit card to cover the bills for Christmas, the research carried out for the bank by Millward Brown shows.

Dara Deering of KBC Bank said the results of the survey showed that consumers have a  sensible approach to funding Christmas.
