Christmas cheer was all around the GPO today as the first group of children posted their letters to Santa.

The GPO set up a special Santa post box at the unveiling of their crib today, with Disney Princesses as special guests.

Casey and Ellie Rose, both five years old, couldn’t wait to post their letters and spent some time dancing with the princesses in between.

Both girls are spending Christmas with their families at their grandmothers’ houses, but they say that Christmas is really about Santa’s visit.

“Santy comes to the boys and girls who are good or bad,” Casey said.

When asked if they would leave anything for Santa on Christmas Eve, Ellie Rose said: “A chocolate chip cookie, sweets and milk – and a carrot for Rudolph!”

An Post and the GPO will have carol singers and the Santa post box every day from now until Christmas as part of their campaign to make sure people get their post this Christmas.

An Post are encouraging people to take care when writing addresses and always place a return address in case post cannot be delivered so that everyone gets their Christmas packages and cards.
