Christmas office parties back as gloom wears off

GLAD rags and party hats are being dusted off by staff around the country as the work Christmas party makes a comeback.

Thanks to corporate cutbacks the Christmas shindig has been a muted affair in the past few years.

However, according to the Close Brothers Business Barometer, 10pc more small firms in Ireland plan to hold a Christmas party this year than last. Nearly half – 46pc – of companies will push the boat out to give their staff a party.

The Close Brothers' survey shows that 16pc of Irish firms are benefiting from better trading conditions, up 6pc on the previous quarter.
