Christmas office parties back as gloom wears off
GLAD rags and party hats are being dusted off by staff around the country as the work Christmas party makes a comeback.
Thanks to corporate cutbacks the Christmas shindig has been a muted affair in the past few years.
However, according to the Close Brothers Business Barometer, 10pc more small firms in Ireland plan to hold a Christmas party this year than last. Nearly half – 46pc – of companies will push the boat out to give their staff a party.
The decision by more firms to host a party probably comes as years of austerity wear thin and an improved business environment prompts owners to loosen the purse strings.
The Close Brothers' survey shows that 16pc of Irish firms are benefiting from better trading conditions, up 6pc on the previous quarter.
