While an increasing number of primary schools in Ireland are opting for alternative Christmas plays, the traditional nativity play is still cherished in Christian-faith based schools. At Gaelscoil de hÍde in Fermoy, first class students gave a charming performance in their nativity play this year. Also, the school's third class starred in a bi-lingual and topical play about the environment and the importance of protecting the planet.
Tinahely National School in Wicklow is putting on a 'Music Generation' concert this Christmas, while last year the school gave a superb performance of The Wind in The Willows in the local community hall starring Toad and co.
In Educate Together National School, Claregalway pupils put on various Christmas plays connected to popular children's stories such as Giraffes Can't Dance.
