Triona's trends

Strictly entre nous, Will loved my big bangers while I was breastfeeding! Well, that's all changed now, since I've stopped nursing. He better get used to looking at my face!

I've been wearing brighter colours to, em, perk myself up, so this week's look is all about trying to look a bit younger when you're actually a lot older.

The smoother your complexion, the more youthful your skin will appear, according to Lyndsey Cavanagh, Max Factor and Olay ambassador, who made me up this week. She really rates Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Day Moisturiser with SPF, €20 (I'm holding it in my photo) as not only does it boast huge skin-benefiting ingredients, but it also provides a good base for the addition of any other products. Then we used Olay's Total Effects 7-in-1 Pore Minimizing CC Cream,  €20.

"Any powder-based products will always lead to dehydration lines, so avoid these as much as possible. Opt for cream-based and liquid-based products as a flattering, dewy alternative," Lyndsey says. "Cream blushers such as Max Factor Creamy Blush in Soft Copper, €10.79, add a subtle softness to the skin and can be used across the brow bone, high on the apple of the cheeks, and, using fingertips, even blotted over the lips to add delicate warmth and colour."

Lyndsey also recommends moving away from matte lippies, as a glossy finish is much fresher looking.

Triona's trick

As we wear less make-up in the summer, it's important to get it right, especially the eyes.

Here's my top eyeliner tip: I think it's best to start by keeping the line as thin as possible, and if a thicker line is desired, repeat the process.

To create the flick at the outer edge, do as I do and use a credit card as your template!

It's about the only thing my maxed-out card is good for at the mo!

Orange you funny

Did you know that if you say "gullible" really, really slowly it actually sounds like "oranges?" Go on, try it!

Did you try it? Har-di-har-har-har! Oh, I love a bit of a mess, but not when I'm tanning. Orange I glad Lancome has a new Night-Sun Self Tan Face Cream, right, €30, part of the hugely popular Flash Bronzer range.

The clue is in the name. This gradual tanner works at night, to give a really natural, glowing look to the face when it is used over the course of a week. You simply apply it at night, instead of your regular night cream, as it contains antioxidants, Vitamin E and precious oils such as rose hip oil and argan oil, to nourish the skin beautifully.

Next morning, you'll wake to subtly sun-kissed skin. The Flash Bronzer range also has a Self-Tanning Body Lotion, Self-Tanning Face Gel, Self-Tanning Body Mousse and an iridescent Self-Tanning Gel for legs, all €30.

Woulfe Woulfe

The recent spate of good weather and my 'Living' Slimmer for Summer challenge, has got me in the mood for exposing more of myself, like Helena Christensen.

A trip to Nuala Woulfe Serenity Day Spa and Salon is in the diary; it's a one-stop-shop for facials, jet peels, tanning, body treatments and waxing, to get me glowing. I definitely want to try the Payot Slimming Treatment, 90 minutes, €110, to help with a bit of cellulite. The treatment also promises to melt away stress. My kinda treatment!

Triona's most wanted

Not gonna lie, it was love at first sniff! Then again, I love all the Chanel Chance scents. This one though, Chance Eau Vive, from €71, is a brand-new fragrance in the Chance olfactory family.

Chance is French for "luck" and Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel believed deeply in chance. She was convinced that chance was a way of being, and to seize our chances when they arise. I love that philosophy - so basically in order to be lucky, you have to believe in it. Got it?

Created by perfumer Olivier Polge, the latest blend is a really zesty, invigorating scent, due to the grapefruit already found in the first Chance fragrance. Here, it's mixed with other citrus notes. Combined with the softness of jasmine and white musk, it really envelops you in a rejuvenating embrace for that 'I smell so good right now' kind of feeling.

I keep burying my nose in my wrist when I wear it!

Cult product

Cream blushers and I have struggled to get on over the years. I've always been slightly afraid of them, because I thought they just highlighted my pores, and generally just slid off.

Then I discovered Boots No7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush, €12.95. I popped the Classic Rose shade on the apples of my cheeks and was happy to see that my pores weren't waving at me from a mile away!

So we're in The Love!

The easy-to-apply formula is blendable, yet budge-proof, turning to powder on the skin so I can blend it in, and then it sets for hours of cheekiness.
