Bairbre Power: Worn in Chelsea
Reality TV stars front the summer collections for high-street favourites
I've a regular Monday night TV date with the Made in Chelsea show on E4. Call it TV popcorn, but when you are flattened post-gym, MIC with its constantly evolving locations and inevitable cast rows just fits the bill.
My all-time favourite in the cast was Millie Mackintosh, who sadly quit after season five. Petite Millie won over Irish fans with her superb manners and innate style when she came over to judge Best Dressed at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby two years ago. She has developed a collection around her chic boho values, which you can check out on millie-mackintosh.com. (By the way, if you saw those pictures of Millie in the sunshine with her old, now current beau, Hugo Taylor in Monaco last weekend, that gorgeous cutaway white one-piece bathing suit was by Calzedonia, an Italian brand that excels at lingerie, beachwear and tights - another name for your Little Black Book).
Fellow Made in Chelsea star, Lucy Watson, (above) has made her fashion presence felt this season by fronting River Island's 'My Style, My City' which shines the spotlight on Ibiza. The collaboration gives an insight into Lucy's favourite island hangouts and her summer style. The resort looks go from poolside to daytime, including this cute coral crop top (€26) and split-leg trousers (€47) and the embellished cover-up (€67), all available at riverisland.com.
Jess Woodley (above) has been on the FROW of Irish designer Paul Costelloe at London Fashion Week, and this summer she is the face of Oasis' new 'Chelsea Physic Garden' collection. The collaboration with London's oldest garden is packed with pretty florals and the prints cross over between summer occasionwear and festival buys. Jess is 5ft 3in tall, so as you can see, these prints suit petites just perfectly.
* Here's one for your diary next weekend. Vintage luxury hunters, Brand Connection, is hosting an exclusive sale of its current collection in The Merrion Hotel, Dublin next Saturday and Sunday (June 11-12). The sale is exclusive to members of their website, who can register on brandconnection.fr to receive a VIP invitation. The pre-loved bags come at all prices and the most expensive is the 1994 Hermès Kelly in shiny Vert Céladon alligator (below) which sells for €59,000. The more affordable Cartier Panther Box handbag in brown patent leather with silver tone chain panther ring closure comes with original box and dustbag and sells for €480.
Tea for two
Laura Kinsella has been appointed ‘in-house milliner’ at Dublin’s Westin Hotel where she will offer advice to the bridal parties who book weddings at the hotel. Her headpiece (above) was photographed in connection with the Westin’s new Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea, €49.50pp. thewestindublin.com
