Youths on the rampage in night of rioting
A bus was burnt out and several cars hijacked during a night of disorder in the North.
Around 100 youths gathered in O'Neill Road, Newtonabbey, at around 8.30pm yesterday and threw stones at approaching police vehicles.
After a bus was set alight and car hijacked, three other vehicles were later seized nearby.
Motorists were warned to stay away from the area while officers dealt with the trouble. Road closures were eventually removed shortly after midnight.
It is thought the disturbance was linked to a number of searches in the area over recent days by officers from the PSNI's Historical Enquiries Team.
A PSNI spokesman said: "Police will continue to investigate the incidents and identify those involved."
