Gardai in Pearse Street station have launched an investigation

A 19-year-old woman was seriously injured in Dublin’s city centre this morning when she was hit by an articulated lorry.

The incident occurred at approximately 7am at Cork Hill in Dublin 2 where the woman was walking.

Following the accident, the woman was taken to St James Hospital for treatment of injuries.

She has since been described as being in critical condition.

Gardai in Pearse Street station have launched an investigation into the incident.

Cork Hill - between Fishamble St and Parliament St - was closed earlier for several hours and motorists were asked to use alternative routes.

The road has since reopened.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact Pearse St Garda station on 01 6669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
