Young man left with serious facial injuries after being slashed in the face during bike robbery

A young man has been left with serious facial injuries after being slashed in the face during a robbery.

The shocking incident occurred yesterday evening while the young man was cycling through a housing estate in the west Dublin area.

The victim, aged in his mid 20s was approached by a lone male who attempted to steal his bike. A struggle ensued and what has been described as a “sharp implement” was produced before the male was slashed in the face.

The attack occurred in broad daylight at the Greenpark Shopping Centre near St John’s Drive, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 at approximately 5.30pm.

The victim was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which have been described as “non-life threatening”.

Officers from Clondalkin garda station are investigating the incident, which is being treated as a robbery from a person.

No arrests have yet been made, and the only description of the assailant available currently is that he was wearing a black tracksuit during the assault.
