Young man crushed to death in factory accident
A YOUNG man was crushed to death yesterday morning in a shocking accident at his workplace.
Barry Gargan (28) was operating machinery at 7.15am at a paving manufacturing plant owned by Kilsaran Concrete in Piercetown, Dunboyne, Co Meath.
Mr Gargan, of Almondstown, Co Meath, was taken by ambulance to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, Dublin, where he was pronounced dead.
Two separate investigations are being carried out by the gardai and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
Inspectors from the HSA visited the premises yesterday.
Mr Gargan was described by locals yesterday as "one of the nicest young men you could meet".
Staff at the plant were said to be "devastated" yesterday.
