Young girl (7) rushed to hospital in serious condition after being struck by car at rally

A YOUNG girl is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car at a rally yesterday.

The 7-year-old’s girl younger brother was also injured in the incident, however his injuries are understood to not be life threatening.

She suffered serious leg and back injuries and was airlifted to Cork University Hospital.

The incident happened at around 11.30am yesterday morning, before the start of the Circuit of Kerry Rally.

It is understood that the car that collided with the children was clearing the road before the beginning of the race.

The girl is said to be extremely lucky to be alive.
