THE country's biggest annual religious service expects to grow further this year when the Galway Solemn Novena begins today.
More than 15,000 people are expected to attend the daily sessions of the novena, organised by the Redemptorist Order.
Novena director Fr Michael Cusack said people needed "an injection of hope".
"Our hope is that the novena will offer people an opportunity to examine their lives."
There are six daily sessions -- 7.45am, 11am, 1.10pm, 3.30pm, 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
