Wounded postmistress back at work after raid
A POSTMISTRESS yesterday returned to work less than 24 hours after a gang of masked men blasted her with a shotgun.
Courageous Christine Dempsey (66) still had ringing in her ears and a bandaged elbow when she came home from hospital on Tuesday.
The postmistress and her son, John (31), were both shot during the attack in Oulart, Co Wexford.
John Dempsey, who walked in through a rear door to find out what was going on in the post office, was hit by ricocheting pellets. He remains in hospital where he is recovering from an operation to remove lead pellets from his leg.
Gardai are still questioning two men in their 20s.
Meanwhile, three men, one armed with a gun, threatened staff during a raid on a post office near the border in Co Donegal yesterday. The trio raided Bridgend Post Office on the road linking Letterkenny and Derry and escaped with an undisclosed sum.
