Would-be thief loses her nerve

A WOMAN who tried to pull off an armed robbery fled when she was told to get out of a shop.

The 33-year-old armed herself with a knife and a hammer before entering Dunphy's shop on the Cork Road in Waterford on Monday night.

But the owner of the shop ordered her off the premises.

She appeared to lose her nerve and fled empty-handed. It is understood she got into a red car and left the area.

Gardai were quickly on the scene and later arrested a woman at her house.
