'World’s longest car park' – Commuters outraged at consistent delays on M50

The M50 has been the subject of frustration to morning commuters this week, with numerous tailbacks every single working day.
A six-car crash near the Red Cow and a separate crash near Blanchardstown were this morning's issues, however this was just the latest in a long list of delays on the route this week.
While sitting in what one driver called the “World’s longest car park,” commuters took to social media to express their frustration.
“There really should be no accidents on the M50 it's a straight road. [They are] all due to jumping lanes not observing merging lanes. I drive everyday on it and see really dangerous driving. If drivers see a little gap in a lane they jump-in,” one Facebook commenter said.
@aaroadwatch Was there ever that many crashes on the M50 when it opened? The last 4 morning have been torturous! And I don't even use it!!— Ciaran McCann (@McCannCiaran1) October 20, 2016
The rubber necking on the m50 northbound was horrendous today. Surely there is something that can be done to reduce that @LiveDrive— Shane O' Malley (@shaneomalley) October 20, 2016
Though most commuters blamed dangerous driving, some called for better education, more information and government intervention to solve the problem.
“You can't expect people to know how to drive on a motorway properly when the driving test in Ireland makes no mention of it - it isn't included in the learning process. Learners can't drive on the motorway so how is anyone expected to know how to use one properly?” another commuter pointed out.
Whatever the cause, drivers are beginning to ask the government: what is the value of the M50 if mornings are this slow and this dangerous?
Soon it's going to make more sense both time and money wise for me to go through town. Which defeats the point of the M50 @Shane_RossTD
