Detectives are hunting the raiders who targeted the house on Green Field Road in Sutton, north Dublin, at around 8.20am yesterday morning.

Gardai said the victim, who is aged in her 50s, had just returned to her home when two men, one armed with a knife, threatened her.

They tied her up and took an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled in a grey BMW 5 series with false registration plates marked 03-D.

"The raiders abandoned this car on Lauders Lane, Burrow Road, Sutton, a short time later," said a Garda spokesman.

"It is believed that the raiders may have changed cars at this location."

Both men are described as being in their 20s and of average height and build.

One wore a navy tracksuit, baseball cap, a scarf covering his face and spoke with a Dublin accent.

Gardai in Clontarf have appealed for information.
