Woman 'missing' for over a year found in Spain
A Fermanagh woman who went missing last summer is set to return home today.
The family of Nollaig O’Connor (37) have spoken of their relief and delight that their loved one has been found safe and well in the south of Spain.
Ms O’Connor, who is described as a ‘vulnerable adult’ had not been in contact with her family since July of last year.
She was studying in Scotland when she last made contact with her family.
In an online post that declared her 'missing', Nollaig is also described as 'deeply religious' and a keen busker.
Her family launched a social media campaign to find her and asked people heading to mainland Europe to raise awareness and leave ‘missing’ posters across the continent.
An Irish couple spotted Nollaig yesterday in the south of Spain and contacted her family who flew out to meet her.
“Great news, I am with Nollaig south of Spain and she is safe,” a Facebook post on the social media page ‘Help Find Nollaig O’Connor’ read yesterday.
“Even better she has agreed to come to Ireland with me and we leave on our journey tomorrow.
“Many thanks to all who have helped on this journey and to Tara and Nicky Cassidy who met Nollaig on the streets today and have been so generous with their time and home today and tonight,” it continued.
“We have been truly blessed this day.”
Nollaig was officially listed as missing on UK website Missingpeople.org.uk since last summer.
