Woman injured in gun attack

Brendan Farrelly

GARDAI were last night hunting a gunman after a shot fired through the window of a house hit a woman in the back.

The attack happened at about 7.30pm on Greenpark Road, close to the People's Park in Bray, Co Wicklow.

Gardai confirmed that the woman, in her late 40s, was hit in the lower back. She was alone in the house at the time.

The woman was rushed by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai sealed off the scene for a forensic examination. Officers are still trying to establish the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

It is believed the wrong house may have been targeted. As yet no one has been arrested.
