Woman in her late twenties killed in early morning collision

A woman in her late twenties was killed when her car left the road in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred at Carrickatober, Co Cavan.

Gardai were alerted to the single-vehicle collision at approximately 7.30am.

The collision took place on the road from Crosskeys to Ballyjamesduff Road, one kilometer on the Ballyjamesduff side of Crosskeys.

The female driver was the sole occupant of the car. She was fatally injured when her car left the road.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Navan.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
