Woman hit by car during flag demo

Union flag protests have been taking place in Northern Ireland

A woman has been hit by a car during a Union flag protest in Northern Ireland.

She was taken to hospital for treatment for non-serious injuries following the collision on Londonderry's Glendermott Road, police said.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said: "Police would like to take this opportunity to remind those participating in protests and those organising protests of the dangers of standing in the middle of busy roads during the hours of darkness."
