Woman guilty of assault after good friend's death

A WOMAN acquitted of her close friend's manslaughter but found guilty of assault causing harm outside a hospital will be sentenced in July.

Michelle Brannigan (36) with an address at Hill Street, Dublin 1, had pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to unlawfully killing Tracey O'Brien (31) at Parnell Square West on June 25, 2009.

Last Friday, a jury found Brannigan (right) not guilty of manslaughter but guilty of assault causing harm after four hours of deliberation.

Yesterday, Brannigan was granted bail and released from custody.
