Woman falls to death near seaside home

A WOMAN's body was recovered yesterday after she fell into the sea while out walking, writes Olivia Kelleher.

The victim, named locally as Margaret Sullivan, from Ballylickey, Co Cork, owns a holiday home on Bere Island, Co Cork, where she is a regular visitor.

She was out walking when she lost her footing and fell a couple of hundred feet into the water at Bird Island, off Bere Island. The alarm was raised by her husband after she failed to return from her walk.

Meanwhile, tributes were last night paid to an Irishman who died in Australia on Friday.

PJ Kearney (24), from Inbear Mor Park in Arklow, Co Wicklow, had been living in Brisbane for the past two years.

Mr Kearney fell four metres after losing his balance on a pub railing and suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital but died soon after.
