Woman due in court in relation to €70k cocaine haul

Lyndsey Telford

A WOMAN was due in court today charged in connection with a €70,000 drugs haul.

The 34-year-old and two other men, aged 28 and 38, were arrested after Gardai recovered what is believed to be cocaine.

They seized the drugs from a car in a stop and search operation in the Terenure area of Dublin at around 7pm on Saturday.

Both men were arrested at the scene.

The woman was later detained in the Rathmines area as part of a follow-up operation.

She will go before the Courts of Criminal Justice in the morning.

The 28-year-old male has since been released and a file is being sent to the DPP.

The other man remains in custody.

The arrests were made after police agencies from around the world co-operated in smashing the international drugs trafficking ring.

Gardai had been keeping watch on a guesthouse in Terenure and seized the cocaine concealed in coat hangers.

It is believed the cocaine was brought into Ireland on Friday from Costa Rica via mainland Europe.
