Woman dies following city centre collision

A female pedestrian has been killed in a collision close to the Luas red line outside Heuston Station in Dublin. Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to this collision to contact Kilmainham Garda Station on 01 6669700, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The collision took place at approximately 5pm.

It's believed a truck was involved with the incident which occurred on Victoria Quay, close to the Luas Red Line track, near Heuston station.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene.

However, the victim, believed to be in her late teens or early twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her remains were conveyed to the city morgue and a post-mortem is expected to take place. The woman has not yet been identified.

The Luas Red Line was closed for some time to facilitate a technical examination.

The line has since re-opened.
