Woman arrested for interrupting judge in court
A WOMAN who interrupted the judge as he directed the jury to find the retired priest not guilty of an indecent assault charge was arrested yesterday.
As Judge Sean O Donnabhain began to address the jury, a woman in the public gallery -- who was not involved in the case -- interrupted him, and took issue with one aspect of the legal argument.
The woman continued to direct comments at the judge until he ordered a garda to take her into custody. She was then removed from the court.
Some 15 minutes later, after the case ended, he discharged her from custody.
The judge warned that he could not tolerate anyone interrupting him as he dealt with a jury at a crucial point of a criminal trial.
