A man has been stabbed to death in a flat in Phibsboro in Dublin.
The 36-year-old victim is a Romanian native.
He was attacked in a small flat on the Phibsboro Road not far from the centre of the village at around 10.30pm last night.
Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to a house after the attack and the man was taken from the scene by ambulance to the Mater Hospital with apparent stab wounds.
He was later pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning.
A woman in her mid 40s has been arrested in connection with this investigation and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Mountjoy Garda Station.
The scene is preserved pending a forensic and technical examination and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
Members of the garda technical bureau arrived at the scene early today and began their work gathering evidence.
Local Labour TD Joe Costello visited the scene this afternoon and said the man's death was a shock and a tragedy for his family.
"It's a tragedy in an area here in Phibsboro which is a quiet area," he told Independent.ie.
"It's a tragedy for the family and it is a shock for the area," he added, saying it was out of line with life in an area which is not used to such violence.
