Gardai in Roscommon are investigating the accident that happened just before 5pm at Carrowphadeen in Lecarrow.
The 83-year-old woman, who was travelling alone, was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe where she was later pronounced dead.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses.
