IT'S going to be one of the sporting occasions of next year and a chance to humble the auld enemy. The Irish cricket team will host England on September 3, 2013 at the new international ground at Malahide in the RSA Challenge and you could be there on a VIP hospitality trip to make the most of what should be a special day. The award will be presented at a glittering ceremony on November 16. Each successful entry will be entered into a draw to win the fantastic day out. James Shannon made his full Ireland debut this summer, with great aplomb, following an excellent season with his club side Instonians whom he helped to NCU Challenge Cup glory with 99 not out in the final. His first cap for Ireland was in August v South Africa A in the four-day game at Oak Hill, where he made a composed 59. In all, he played 10 times in the voting period, scoring 356 runs.

Stuart Thompson, the Limavady all-rounder, made his full Ireland debut in the Inter-continental game versus Afghanistan in Dublin. He played 13 times in the voting period, scoring 340 runs at 37.78, he also collected 23 wickets at an average of just 19. Thompson's season was capped when he made the plane to Sri Lanka as part of Ireland's squad of 15 for the World Twenty 20.

Max Sorensen from The Hills made his debut for Ireland against Kenya in February and bowled with real pace. He was outstanding in the play-off match v Namibia that won Ireland's place in Sri Lanka where he was Man of the Match, bowling 4 overs for just 8 runs and taking 2 key wickets. In total, he took 37 wickets in his 22 appearances in the voting period at an average of just over 17.
