The Viceregal thrones have fallen out of favour, it seems, and it is time for a new inauguration chair for the next President.
Craftspeople throughout the land now have the opportunity to create the defining piece of their careers.
But what other options are available? What else can inspire? Or just save a few euro because it costs less and we're broke.
We could go the chic and traditional route with a classically styled Queen Anne ladies' chair, available online online for a reasonable €329 (pictured left), which, according to chairworld.ie, "would bring a touch of elegance to any bedroom, hallway or sitting room". No doubt it would do similar for a castle.
For a mere €1,250, the same "elegant" chair is also available online from bespoke Italian designers Ikandi.
There is also the cheap and cheerful flat-pack option with the Bertil range chair from Ikea, which costs a mere €25 (pictured right).
