who will run new system?

Q HealthCare Commissioning Agency: To manage funds, performance, contracting and financing including deal-making with hospital groups.

Q National Insurance Fund: To manage subsidies to support affordability of premiums.

Q Programme Management Office: To manage blueprint for health reform.

Q Hospital Trusts: Seven of these will control regionally grouped hospitals with about eight hospitals in each group.

Q Primary and Community Trusts: Governance, management and support of all non-hospital based healthcare services.

Q Healthcare Pricing Office: The office will use cost and activity data to set national prices. Officials argue it is best practice to keep pricing separate from actual purchasing.

Q Patient Safety Agency: Described as the patients' champion. It will, among other things, help aggrieved patients achieve redress.
