Mr Barry was elected in Cork East while Ms Collins took a seat in the adjacent Cork North West constituency in 2011.
Neither are strangers to controversy with Ms Collins making headlines last year with unguarded comments during a meeting with Cork anti-bailout protestors in which she referred to the difficulties of being in Dublin full-time and operating on a TD's salary of over Euro 90,000.
She later said she had regretted the remarks and that her comments had been taken totally out of context.
Mr Barry revealed that he had been the focus of death threats last year over the proposed Budget cuts.
The threats were later referred to the Gardai in Mallow.
Ms Collins (43), who is a business consultant by profession, is married with three children.
Mr Barry (44), who is a farmer and agri-business executive by profession, is married with three children.
