What is a judgment?

Someone who is owed money can go to the courts to make a person or company legally responsible to repay their debts.
Judgments are generally not published in the newspapers but appear in weekly bulletins.
And when they are published, it often puts pressure on the individual to pay up.
What happens next depends on whether the bank, or whoever is owed money, decides to return to the court to look for a share of any assets that are available or a share of the person's future earnings.
This is a lengthy process and in some cases the debts are just too big to ever be recovered.
