What deputies must declare

The letter telling TDs what they must declare:

• Any directorship held while a member of either House of the Oireachtas, at any time between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011.

• This includes any directorship resigned during the course of 2011.

• A "Company" is defined by the legislation as meaning a "body corporate" and should be interpreted in the widest possible sense, ie a registered company, a local authority, a public body, a body established by charter or any voluntary body, community group, business venture, or similar group or collection of individuals having an existence, rights and duties distinct from the individual persons forming the group.

• Once a member has declared his/her directorship of a company, it is not a requirement that land and/or other assets of that company be declared/registered.
