HOUSEHOLDS whose bins were not collected after Christmas by Greyhound Recycling because they did not pay an annual charge on time can have them picked up in 48 hours if they settle the account.
The company billed householders for €59.95 several months before Christmas to cover the annual cost of collections from January 1 in advance.
It said yesterday that most customers had paid and got an added bonus of €10 credit, reducing the charge.
A spokesman said that the company operated a pre-paid system and only accounts in credit would have collection services.
"If people contact us and regularise their accounts, they will have a collection in 48 hours," he added.
