Weather forecast: wrap up for a freezing winter

The globe might be over-heating, but it seems our winters are destined to get colder!
And this freezing pattern could last 50 years.
Solar experts in the US have painted a grim picture of the future of winter weather in Ireland today.
At an annual meeting of the American Astronomical Society, scientists have claimed that the sun has broken out of its normal pattern of behaviour.
Solar activity has "flatlined", and they believe this will bring us Arctic-style winters, similar to those we have seen recently, for many years to come.
But this forecast doesn’t contradict global warming theories … it is regarded as a separate phenomenon.
Last winter was the harshest in decades in Ireland, causing economic chaos, transport mayhem and leading to the closure of schools.
