The winners of last Saturday’s Lotto jackpot said they couldn’t “sleep a wink” after winning.

And they kept their winning ticket under their pillow for safe-keeping as they tossed and turned.

The couple – who wish to remain anonymous – purchased their €4 Quick Pick ticket in Michael Corbett’s shop in Quin, Co Clare.

They discovered they were the country’s newest millionaires on Sunday afternoon.

While shop owners Michael and Anne Corbett happily posed for photographs yesterday, the winning couple made a low-key trip to Lotto HQ in Dublin’s Abbey Street to collect their winnings and celebrate with a few glasses of champagne.

“I didn’t sleep a wink last night,” the man said.

“This is life-changing. I’ve never won anything in my life before. We’ll stay level-headed and take a bit of time to let the news settle before we decide what to do.

“It’s amazing to be in a position to pay off all the bills and look after our families.

“It just feels surreal,” said his partner

“I checked those numbers over and over again. It’s like a dream.”

The happy couple were planning to go somewhere special for the night to celebrate their good fortune.
