Water back to normal in most of the country

WATER levels are finally expected to return to normal this week, writes Allison Bray. But restrictions will continue in some areas as demand is expected to surge with the re-opening of schools today.
Overnight restrictions -- including phased-in shut-offs and reductions in pressure -- will continue in some parts of the greater Dublin area until the weekend.
However, broken mains are being fixed and a large number of internal leaks at properties left vacant over Christmas have been detected.
Some restrictions will continue on a rotating basis in parts of Fingal as water levels have only increased marginally.
But, for the most part, restrictions were lifted in the majority of places as the situation steadily improved last week, a spokesman said last night.
