A series of videos captured during a training exercise for Dublin Fire Brigade officers offers a rare glimpse of what officers are faced with when responding to emergency calls.

The videos, taken in a council owned buildings opposite DFB's headquarters, today show how officers are trained to navigate a smoke-filled building when a fire breaks out.

Upon entry a smoke curtain is dropped down which limits the amount of smoke which can escape the house.

Officers then carry out a rapid search of the building.

Ventilation of the property is then carried out with a powerful fan used to push out hot air and smoke.
