Victory 'bittersweet' for BOD

THEY seized a place in history.

But for Brian O'Driscoll (pictured), the 41-16 victory by Warren Gatland's Lions was "bittersweet" after he was unexpectedly dropped from the team for the deciding Test. "The final whistle was bittersweet," he revealed in an interview last night.

"You do not feel as much part of it if you have not played. No matter what."

Lions wing Tommy Bowe said O'Driscoll played a key role in gearing up the Lions for the Test series decider on Saturday – and the 34-year-old cheered on the team from the stands.

O'Driscoll said he wants to be remembered for being part of the winning series and for being a "winning Lion".
