A woman who died in a house fire in Co Offaly on Saturday morning has been named locally as Maura Rigney.

Gardai are not thought to be treating the blaze as suspicious.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Ferbane to Clara road where the woman lived with her husband Michael.

Ms Rigney, who was aged in her mid-60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the house at the time.

Although investigations are ongoing, a garda spokesman said early indications suggested "it appears to have been a tragic accident".
