Vehicle on fire on one of Dublin's busiest commuter roads

Commuters in north Dublin experienced delays this evening after a car went on fire on one of the county's busiest roads.
The vehicle was on fire on the M1 northbound between the Donabate and Balbriggan junctions on the hard shoulder.

The car was extinguished shortly after 7pm but remained in the hard shoulder.
Gardai told Independent.ie the incident is not being regarded as suspicious and the car was on fire as a result of a mechanical failure.
Gardai attended the scene.
Delays were caused by cars slowing down to look at the incident.
AA Roadwatch advised motorists to take care on approach.
