They slashed tyres, threw flowerpots and bricks through windscreens and tore off windscreen wipers.

The vandalism took place in Clane, Co Kildare, between 3am and 4.30am on Monday. In total, 28 vehicles were damaged.

A 20-year-old man from the Capdoo area was arrested and was last night bailed to appear before Naas District Court next Wednesday.

Sergeant Paul Reilly said he believed at least one other person was involved.

Anyone with information can contact Clane garda station on 045 868262.
