IT is the annual toy extravaganza featuring all manner of gadgets and gizmos.
But presenter Ryan Tubridy has confirmed that "reasonably priced toys" will be stars of this Friday's 'Late Late Toy Show'.
In an effort to relieve pressure on cash-strapped parents, the retail price of each toy has been a major factor in the selection.
"We have to be acutely aware of what people are going through," he said.
"So, to be fair to parents, what we will be pointing out on The Toy Show will be reasonably priced toys, or good value toys. That's the emphasis this year."
Although one or two more expensive toys may feature, all the playthings will be donated to children's hospitals around the country.
More alarming for 2012 is the choice of jumper the host plans to wear on the three hour special.
"There won't be any penguins or snowmen or figures on the jumper. I would describe this sweater as gruesome, nasty and grotesque, but only from a sartorial point of view," he joked .
