'Vadrarfjordr' pushes the boat out on its birthday

Mike Leahy, artistic director of street theatre company Spraoi, works on the figurehead of a Viking ship being built for Vadrarfjordr, part of the upcoming Waterford 1100 celebrations. 'Vadrarfjordr' is the name the Vikings gave to the outpost that became Waterford. To mark the 1,100th anniversary of their arrival in 914AD, a free outdoor spectacle will take place on the city quays at 7pm on Saturday, January 4.
