The US Marshals Service has been given details of one of the main suspects in the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe, who fled to the United States almost a month ago.
The man, in his early 20s, who lives just north of the Border in Co Armagh, disappeared last month and was found to have travelled to New York. Gardai alerted the FBI and the New York Police Department was made aware of his presence.
The NYPD also alerted the US Marshals, whose duties include the apprehension of fugitives.
The suspect's picture and details are with the Marshals Service and if he leaves New York or overstays his 90-day holiday visa, he will be arrested and deported back to Ireland. The Marshals Service has a strong record of apprehending fugitives. Two other suspects in the case are believed to have gone to Australia.
