Unions urged to stay in talks

THE minister in charge of public sector reform has warned unions they are better off "in the tent" at the Croke Park II talks.

Brendan Howlin (below) said proposals already tabled had upset some, but that the unions were better off "in the tent" at talks on €1bn cuts, rather than walking away as they would have some input in shaping the outcome.

Mr Howlin also confirmed that a freeze or cuts to increments were now on the table at talks.
