Two women killed in separate Cork road accidents

TWO women have been killed in separate road accidents in Co Cork.

A female pedestrian was killed when she was struck by a car in Cork in the early hours today.

The woman (37) died at Carrshill, Douglas at 2.30am when she was hit by the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and the road is closed pending a technical examination. Traffic diversions are in place.

Gardai at Togher are seeking witnesses to contact them at ph 021 4947120.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old woman was fatally injured when the car she was driving collided with another car at Gearanskagh, Mallow at 8.10pm last night.

The occupants of the second car, a woman aged 51 and three children were taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.

Gardai have appealed for anyone with information to contact Mallow Garda Station at ph 022 31450.
