A TEENAGER who was stabbed in an incident in Galway city over the weekend remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Two further teens who were arrested in connection to the stabbing have had their time in custody extended.

The men, who are aged 18 and 16 are being questioned at Mill Street Garda Station in the city following the stabbing of an 18-year-old in Knocknacarra in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 18-year-old boy suffered stab wounds in the incident which occurred in a laneway beside Knocknacarra Church in Salthill at around 3am on Saturday morning. He remains in University Hospital Galway where his injuries are believed to be serious.

The incident was not reported to gardai until later that evening. Yesterday gardai arrested two men in relation to the incident and they are currently being questioned under the Criminal Justice Ac t 1984. Their period of detention was extended on Sunday evening.
