Two quizzed over grenade

Two men were being questioned by gardai last night after a training grenade was found in a car in Waterford.

Gardai stopped the car in the city and discovered the device.

Ordnance officers from the Army bomb-disposal unit were called in and removed the device for a detailed examination. But they said they were satisfied that the grenade had no explosive content.

Officers said last night that they did not believe there was any subversive connection to the incident.
