Two quizzed over armed raid at bank

Ed Carty

Two men have been arrested over an armed raid on a bank.

A lone gunman held up the Bank of Ireland in Rathfarnham shopping centre in Dublin yesterday.

The suspects, in their mid 30s and early 40s, were detained in follow-up searches in the south inner city.

A Garda spokesman said an armed raider held up a bank cashier at noon yesterday, stole an undisclosed sum of cash and fled in a small blue car. The getaway car has since been recovered.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured.

The two suspects were detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences the State Act. Comments Facility
